What is valid identification for getting BankID?

If you wish to order BankID from us, you are required, among other things, to visit one of our branches with one of the identification types listed below. You must also have a Norwegian national identity number and the identification document must have an RFID chip that can be read by our machines. The expiry date on your identification must be at least three months in the future when you identify yourself at the bank.

• Passport (emergency passports are not accepted)
• Norwegian alien’s passport
• Norwegian travel document for refugees
• Norwegian national ID card

Even if you meet the requirements above, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to issue BankID to you.
