What is the difference between a car loan and a consumer loan?

A car loan is a loan secured against the car you're buying, which gives you a lower interest rate than a consumer loan. With a car loan, the bank has security in the car until the loan is repaid. Consumer loans are unsecured and therefore have higher interest rates, but can be used for anything. For car purchases, we always recommend a car loan since you get better terms.
